Explanation
Harara means heat in arabic, and that’s the nameof this project.
Harara tells Bastiaan Woudt through a collection of images taken in Morocco.
Images in which the color black prevails, a warm black. Hence the concept of warmth, of belonging on which whole zine is based. Divided into six chapters, where each of them is opened by an interview and a Moroccan girl who preludes the content of the chapter, Harara aims to get closer to the user thanks to the real testimonies of a moroccan girl.
The concept of warmth and belonging is explicit through the cover made with heat-sensitive ink that offers a law, to leave one’s mark.
THE HEAT
The heat emerges through the black of Woudt’s photos and manifests itself as a feeling of belonging to an ethnic group.
THE EDITORIAL DESIGN
Each chapter is structured in three masters: an introduction to the chapter, a part of personal interview and an infographic next to the photo.
DATAVIZ AS ARTWORKS
Infographics become artwork where the grain takes on fundamental importance — it also takes on a value, like the numbers.
